Plot[]
Little Bill, Bobby, April, and Brenda are running a few errands. Little Bill and his siblings first notice a train from inside one of the stores. Then, Little Bill buys a Captain Brainstorm eraser from Uncle Al's store. Little Bill and his mother then stop at Percy's pet store to get hamster food for Elephant. But before Little Bill could take the present, Percy stops him and places a red bow on top of it. Then, Brenda is buying a wreath as Little Bill spots a Christmas tree. They then arrive back home.
Little Bill is in his room with all his Christmas gifts. He then tells Elephant to not look at his Christmas gift until tomorrow. Elephant closes his eyes as Little Bill hides his gift. Little Bill tells Elephant that he can now look. He then sings while exiting his room. He looks in Alice the Great's room and sees that she's not there.
Little Bill heads downstairs where his siblings and mother are in the living room. Little Bill asks his mother when Alice the Great is coming home. Brenda notes that she should be on her way now. Little Bill then asks where she went again. Alice the Great was visiting her cousin in Cincinnati. Brenda also notes that she's flying home in an airplane. Little Bill misses her and so does Brenda, but Alice the Great will be home soon. Brenda hands Little Bill the ornament tray as he states that when Alice the Great gets home, they're gonna put up the Christmas tree, make Christmas cookies, go caroling, and even have oyster stew. He then states that they'll put the Christmas star on the tree and sing the Christmas Star song. April sings part of it till Little Bill cuts her off, saying that they must wait until Alice the Great gets home. April notes that she was just practicing. Then, a doorbell is heard. Little Bill thinks it's Alice the Great. He rushes to the front door, only to find out it was his father home with the Christmas tree. Little Bill asks his father if he brought home Alice the Great. Big Bill didn't bring her home. April and Bobby are amazed at the Christmas tree as Brenda asks if that tree will fit. Big Bill is sure and tells Bobby to help him with the stand.
Big Bill pulls the Christmas tree up, only to find it a little too big, making Little Bill and his siblings laugh. In the next scene, Little Bill sadly waits for Alice the Great out the window. Big Bill then asks Bobby what they got in the box. There are red and blue lights, and a bunch of ornaments. Big Bill says he'll get started with the lights. Brenda points out that she has more lights. Bobby asks his brother if he wants to help him with the ornaments, but Little Bill states that Alice the Great isn't home yet. Big Bill assures him that she'll be home soon. Bobby says that Little Bill can be his assistant ornament hanger. Bobby then pulls out a basketball ornament made by April. April tells Bobby to be careful with it because it's her favorite. Little Bill sees popcorn, but April tells her youngest brother that it's for the tree. Bobby then pulls out the Christmas star. Little Bill states it goes on last. Brenda takes the Christmas Star box and places it on top of the fireplace. Bobby then tells Little Bill to put his ornament front and center on the tree. Bobby then comes across an ornament that he and Big Bill don't recognize. Little Bill states that it's Elephant dressed up like Santa Claus. Brenda then pulls out an elephant ornament that Alice the Great made Little Bill for his first Christmas. Little Bill is upset as Brenda asks what's wrong. Little Bill wishes Alice the Great was here. The telephone then rings as Big Bill answers it. It's Alice the Great calling from the Cincinnati Airport. She states that she isn't going to make it home quite as soon as she hoped. As Big Bill hands up, he explains that Alice the Great's flight has been delayed. Little Bill wonders why, and his father explains that it's snowing and her plane can't take off until it stops. Little Bill asks if she knows it's Christmas Eve. Brenda is sure she knows. She then asks if they should put up the Christmas star. Little Bill states that Alice the Great needs to sing the Christmas Star Song like she always does. April and Bobby agree. Little Bill hopes she'll be home soon. Big Bill asked if they can go caroling and April agrees, but Bobby gets a little annoyed and asks that it would be less embarrassing than last year.
