T.V.[]
One day the Glover House, Bobby was heard laughing himself silly because he was enjoying himself reading a joke book. Little Bill wanted to take a look at the joke too. He weakly laughs but he couldn’t read the joke, which said, “What do you call a bear with no socks on? Bear-foot,”. Little Bill decides he wants to learn to read after watching Bobby reading the joke book.
On the way to school, Alice the Great saw how sad Little Bill looked and he told he couldn’t read. So Alice he Great showed Little Bill a sign that Little Bill read and said, “Stop,”. Little Bill read the sign much to his surprise. He was delighted but he wanted to read a book. Alice the Great suggested that he could do it at school. Little Bill agreed.
At school, he asks Miss Murray for assistance, so she devises a word game called a word hunt of looking up things in the room that start with the same letter and writing the words on the board so the children can see how they're spelled. Little Bill picked the letter B since his shirt was designed to have one. So everyone looked for B words. As they searched for B words, Little Bill saw his name started with B but Bill did and not little, Kiku then found a bee, Andrew found a ball, and Fuchsia found a barn. So they went over the words they found and read the same ones that Little Bill, Kiku, Andrew, and Fuchsia found, which were Bill, bee, ball, and barn.
During story time, Miss Murray talks Little Bill through reading one of his favorite stories, Harry the Helpful Horse; Little Bill recognizes some of the words thanks to the game they played earlier. Little Bill read the title of the book. Little Bill was delighted that he can read. He imagined himself in a town with nothing but Harry the Helpful Horse written everywhere and then saw Harry in the flesh. He is then snapped out of his imagination and read the book.
Little Bill read some of the sentences and saw certain words like barn and Bill. Little Bill and Miss Murray read the part where Harry replies to Farmer Bill with a neigh together. As the others arrived to listen to the book, Little Bill and Miss Murray then read the sentence, “That’s his way of saying, okay,”. Then they all read the part where Harry’s cow, sheep, chicken, and horse friends saying, “Moo. Baa. Bawk-Bawk. Neigh. Harry the Helpful Horse. Hooray,”.
Miss Murray even let Little Bill borrow the book and Little Bill kept his promise to bring it back tomorrow. When he gets home, Little Bill shows Bobby how well he can read the story and read the title and he and Bobby read the rest of the book together and Little Bill then read a sentence by himself and Bobby was impressed. Little Bill then recognized the word stop since he saw it with Alice the Great. Then he saw some more B words like boy and ball and they read and saw that Farmer Bill had a big, heavy, sack. And Harry volunteered to take it.
Bobby was impressed with how smart and helpful Harry was. Then the boys both read the part together and said, “The Farmer says, Whew. Good idea, Harry. This sack’s too heavy for me to carry,” which they found very funny and then like back at school, Bobby and Little Bill read the part where Harry’s cow, sheep, chicken, and horse friends saying, “Moo. Baa. Bawk-Bawk. Neigh. Harry the Helpful Horse. Hooray,”. Little Bill read the whole book but Bobby informed Little Bill about the words, “the end,” and they read it together too and Little Bill laughed himself silly.
Then Bobby was impressed with reading and Bobby wanted to read a joke and offers to help him learn the jokes in his book and saw the word bee in the joke, which read, “Why does the bee get married? Because he found his honey,”. The boys laughed and laughed themselves silly and the episode ended with Bobby saying, “What a great book,”.
