Plot[]
One rainy day, Little Bill was watching the rain come down. He was bored and he made raspberry sounds while touching the drop when he saw a cardinal fly onto his windowsill and he said hi to it and Little Bill ducked down and he snuck up and flapped like the cardinal, who was intrigued and she flew away. Alice the Great is knitting a sweater, and Little Bill quietly snuck behind the chair and jumped out from behind and the right trying to surprise Alice the Great. Little Bill asked what she was doing she was knitting a sweater, which is her "thing" and having a thing is something that someone likes to do. Little Bill wondered what his thing was and learned that he had to find it himself. Little Bill liked to play outside but Alice the Great wanted him to find his thing inside and explained that it can be his own treasure. After finding out what she means by "thing," Little Bill decides to find his. When Little Bill was excited to find his thing and sung about it, he sees his father listening to jazz music. Big Bill showed a record player of Dizzy Gillespie as an example. Little Bill figured that it was a funny name and he saw that Dizzy had puffy cheeks and Little Bill made his cheeks puffy much to Big Bill’s amusement. Big Bill showed Little Bill what Dizzy Gillespie’s “puffy cheeks” could do and turned up the music. Little Bill figured that Dizzy was dizzy because he spins around like a record and then Little Bill imagined himself dancing to Jazz music of Dizzy Gillespie and Little Bill spun around and around and was snapped out of his imagination by getting too dizzy. When he asks Big Bill if he liked to listen to Jazz music, he finds out that's his "thing." as Big Bill it was his "thiiiiiing" and had Little Bill doing it. Then Little Bill went to go find his thing, he found Brenda in the kitchen and asked what she was doing and he sees his mother fixing her camera, he finds out her "thing" is photography. He then finds Bobby and April playing chess, at which point he finds out that the piece shaped like a horses head is called a knight. Bobby points out that while it's his thing, it's not April's, at which point Little Bill says it's not his either. When he can't find his "thing" anymore, he tells Alice the Great a story developed from his parents' and siblings' "things," finding out from Alice that his "thing" is storytelling.
